Alcohol & Sleep

With the Festive season well and truly upon us, it's no surprise we're reaching for a glass of wine more than we are a bottle of water.

Trust me, I know - what's the silly season without an alcoholic drink here or there? Even though we can easily live in the moment, and push our health goals to 2022, it's important we don't do too much damage to our health routines over this busy, social period.

Sleep is a key aspect of our routine that often gets neglected during this time. Add alcohol into the mix, and you're heading for a sleepless night ahead! Although you may initially feel sleepy after a few glasses of wine, it's actually been linked to a myriad of problems, like dehydration, difficulty breathing and sleep apnea.

Never fear, here are some great alternatives to using alcohol as a sleep aid this silly season.

Kombucha

If you are socialising and want to bring along a great alcohol alternative, Kombucha tastes *almost* just as good! It mimics the bubbles of beer or sparkling wine, and allows you to still have a drink in your hand at gatherings.

A long, hot bath

If you're staying in, indulge yourself in a little self care! A hot bath before bed can actually help you have a better night's sleep all round. Much better than a hangover the next morning.

Hydrate!

If you are going out to a social event and want to have a drink, make sure you're hydrating between drinks. Your body will thank you for it the next morning.

I hope these tips help you this Festive season. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Happy snoozing.
